Ceiling fan switch chain wrap-around

My ceiling fan switch chain always seemed to wrap itself around the shaft of a fan blade during travel. Several times the fan was left on when I disconnected power from the camper, then the fan tried to come on at the new location when power was reapplied. I didn't notice the ceiling fan wasn't turning, but heard the motor humming.

That's dangerous because if the chain stalls the fan motor, it will overheat it and will eventually burn up the motor.

I tried additional weights on the chain but that didn't help. What solved the wrap-around problem was running the chain through a piece of flexible tubing. I used heat shrink tubing (un-shrunk), simply because it matched the color. A soda straw would probably work well too.
