Freezer frost

We're from Northern VA, so freezer frost build up is common with our high humidity. Now we're into the fifth week of our nine week jaunt into New Mexico and Arizona - currently in Phoenix - and have pretty much the same frost build up we had back home. We do make ice cubes, so is that the problem more than ambient humidity? I'm positive it isn't a leaky gasket since we haven't seen humidity levels over 40% for quite a while. Any ideas or suggestions?
