RDS fuel tank installation in Dodge
Has anybody installed a gravity flow auxillary fuel tank in the bed of their 2010 or newer Dodge pickup? If so, how complex was the installation of the fuel filler pipe T fitting for the gravity flow to the trucks fuel tank? Are you happy with the results and have you had any issues? Thanks for any input.

Installed a ATI (Aluminum Tank Industries - http://atitank.com/)in our 2011 Ram 3500 Dually 4WD, in 2011. Gravity flow, 41 gallon tank. Love it!!!
Installation was very simple and easy. When both tanks are full and you start your journey and the fuel gage starts to move you know you have gone through Aux tank. That simple. Only thing you need to remember is when Aux is full and feeding main tank - DO NOT OPEN ORGINAL FUEL CAP!!!
Found out hard way - just was not thinking. Ours came with cut off and Gage.

I installed a RDS tank in my 2011 ram cc long bed no problems drill hole in bed for the tank mounts and the hose that connects the aux tank to the fill pipe install a rubber grommet in the hole thread hose from the tank then take the fitting under the truck. And postion it where you want it / mark the fill tube with a marker remove the fill tube from the truck it is metal with rubber connections at each end. Then cut the metal tube with a hacksaw clean all debris from tube /run a file around the edge to deburr reinstall in truck tighten clamps. fill aux tank with about 10 gallons of fuel check for leaks. You are done any questions pm me

I have installed a 41 gal tank from Aluminum Tank and it was easy to install. There is one important thing to do is when installing the fuel fill adapter into the tank fill hose. Make sure that the hose connection from the tank facing up. There is a check value located in the connection and that will shut off the fuel when the truck tank is full. I am also very happy I installed the tank.

here is how i did mine.
http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...5/Tanlisin.jpg
when I fill the tank I have a folding step stool to see into the filler hole. I wont have any dirty fuel with the water seperator/ fuel filter in line. something you might think about when doing a gravity fill from the bottom of the transfer tank you better think about a filter that seprates water and dirt befor it goes into the OEM tank.

I am considering a RDS tank/tool box with the gravity feed. I am wanting to filter the fuel before it goes into the main tank.
Can I mount a filter assembly under the bed, use a filter such as the Baldwin 10 micron with a water drain, and then into the fill neck adapter?
Has there been any problems with any powertrain warrinty claims with aftermarket tanks?
Thanks Jim

I am looking at the same 41 gallon with the offset at the bottom and the tool box. I am also interested in putting a filter on it before it goes into the tank. A friend mounted his filter under the bed, but he lives far enough away that I cannot see his assembly. Have you bought yours yet?

I just ordered through Amazon and saved in the freight costs. Northern does not carry store stock in these and ships from factory. They wanted shopping of $86, and camping world wanted $150 for shipping. Mine should arrive next week.
What part of Colorado are you in? We are headed to Colorado springs on October.

I am real happy with the install. They did a great job. The CW here said we were the first. You purchase the tank you want, it is then shipped to the CW store. When it arrives, you just take it in and they install it for that $75. For $75 I will let the Pro's do it.

Install is compete. Took me three hours to install, including everything. If I could have had it done for $75, I probably would have. However, other than time, install went easy enough. With the megacab and short bed configuration, the tank I installed (41 gallon) with the toolbox and angled actually fit very well. No room for any other type of tank. Filling it all up tomorrow to check for leaks. Hardest part was cutting the fuel fill line to install gravity Fl, but it went well. If you want pictures, pm me and I will send you final install.

Can you help with the CW sale. On their web site, they are list prices marked down from from some stupid price.
How about freight. Other sites show $85 and CW is $150.
Any help here? Do you have to go into your local CW store to buy it?
I am used to 100gal in my pusher M/H and the 36 gal in my Dodge is not working for me.
Thanks Jim.

Look at the previous posts. I bought through northern tool on amazon. Shipping was only $66 to my front door. But had to pay sales tax since there is a northern tool in town. Camping world wanted $150 shipping and local northern tool wanted $86. No one carries them in local stock as they come from the factory.
I wanted a tank and toolbox combo.
