Wind Spinners
I have a craft hobby that I like to work on when camping. Works fine for me because it doesn't take any talent or brains - so just the thing to keep me busy. It is wind spinners that you can hang just about anywhere. We hang four or five off our awning. They have a fishing swivel hook so you can get creative of where to put it. I make them from plastic cloth, beads and a coat hanger. They are weather resistant - rain doesn't bother them and the sun light glistens on the clear beads for effect. I make both a single and double size. Here is a picture of the single.

They are beautiful. I've seen these done from plastic canvas which I like working with but have never found a pattern. Anyone have one?
Happy trails..................

I don't have any directions or diagrams. This fine art was passed down to me by another camper. I have been building them and selling them when someone comes up and starts asking questions about where did I buy them.
So here is what I might do. At the Fall Rally in Elkhart maybe we can devote an hour or so to show you how to do them. That is about the only way I know. I could try and write a book on them but until you see someone actually get one started it will drive you to drinking.......more.

I love the spinners ...I made one that looked like a boat, flower and a fishing one. If I remember right I got the pattern at one of the fabric shops. A couple of weeks ago I seen some pop can spinners that were made out of any kind of pop/beer cans beads and wire. They were pretty neat looking too!

Has anyone ever seen the tin man that is make ou of cans and then has the funnel for the hat? My neighbor brought one home after camping and I would really love to get that pattern. That was just about the cuttest thing I think I have ever seen......

Kathi, I have seen them at a campground that we go to about twice a year. A lady there makes them. Here is a link to the pattern for one

I've been making spinners from junk CD's and beads - saw it on a craft show. Easy to do and looks pretty good.

Kathy, thanks for the instructions for the tin man. I have been wanting to make one of those every since I saw my neighbors.
Sunshine, got the instructions for the spinners that you make out of those CD's. I just happen to have about a million that I have saved over the years from AOL!!!!!

I have a pattern for the spinners. Mines not that pretty or large ,but will look for it and bring to rally if we make it. We have a printer in our rig if you want to make copies for a reference.
