Snap Pads
Reading thru another thread prompted me to ask this question about "snap pads". After paying around $200 for six pads that are basically just a 1-1/8" bigger on the total circumference of a circle (rounding off the hexagon shape) ... looking back, do those of you that have bought these feel you really didn't think this purchase thru? My 6 scrap treated 2X6"'s appear to do the same intended job and "no" ... taking 2 minutes to retrieve them from my truck box is not defined as a bother to me.

I agree, particulary when I put handles on the end of the boards to pull them out and carry them.

I really like my Snap Pads and believe they were worth the cost. The have been on for three years.

At the current cost, I guess I would have to give it more thought. I bought ours very early when they were first introduced and think I paid less than $100 for all six. For long term setup I have stacked 2x12x12 that I also use, but for short term, say 1 to 5 days not really worth the bother.

If I paid this much for them I would say I liked them to. But at what looks like a 1/2 inch bigger foot print I `ll pass and use the Camco Extra large foot pads.

I originally purchased mine to make setup easier. I didn't have to go to each jack and put down wood or plastic blocks and I didn't have to pick them up when we left. Just unhook, auto-level and were camping. Since then, we have been in a couple of spots where the access was at a steep angle and I had to raise the jacks pretty high. The two front jacks are at their highest setting, and the rear only have 2 bolt holes left to go up.
I made big pads out of 4x4's and 2x4's stacked to take up the space and not extend the jacks so far, so now the pads aren't as convenient as when I first got them, but I do still like having them. They protect the foot from rocks and other damage and give a softer point to set down when the site if full of gravel and other debris. They are still nice to have, but pricey.

I think that sums it up pretty well. We are new to this and i almost pushed the button twice on the snap pads, I see the attraction, but something about the price just seemed a little steep for what I was getting. I decided to make up some pads with some 3/4” plywood I had laying around. I have 4 that are 4 thicknesses and 2 that are 3 thicknesses because I was short on the plywood and didn’t want to buy any. At the current price of 3/4” plywood, the snap pads get a little cheaper. Anyway, I finished them off with straps made from some old ratchet strap material. We have a routine, she sets them down while I plug in the shore power. For what I have into them, I think we’re good.

I thought people had a problem with the leveling jacks hitting the ground when going over curbs, etc. So wouldn't these pads sort of make that worse?

That's the very reason I didn't get a set even when the price was more reasonable.

I agree. They are pricey. I bought mine a while back and they are now on the second rig.
We still put our blocks underneath them.
They probably prevent the rig from sliding a little bit on pavement. Really didn't notice any big improvement as far as stability.
I do agree with what was stated earlier, " if you spend that kind of money you better like them."
If I had to do it all over again I probably wouldn't spend that kind of money on them.

I held off years ago from getting the pads until we were parked at a mobile home park in their small RV area that was paved, and they placed us on a side sloped spot. Across the freeway from where we were parked was a large railroad switching yard, and when they were switching cars at night, we could actually feel the rig slide a tiny bit at times. Put the pads on the rig and no more sliding. Another benefit is when we occasionally stay at a couple parks that have blacktop paving and they require blocks under the jacks to protect the blacktop, the rubber pads are good in place of wood blocks.

So... not sure why you started this thread? It seems you have made your choice to not buy them. Your language seems needlessly controversial... are you actually looking to learn something, or just stir the pot while you entertain yourself??
BTW, I thought the purchase through and they are much better than anything else I have tried. "basically just a 1-1/8" bigger"?? - try them if you would like to learn how they actually work; IMHO much better than you seem to think. And, no, your 2x6's do not do the same intended job.

I've really been happy with the Anderson jack blocks. The tops have powerful magnets that make attaching to the bottom of the levelers a snap and the fact they keep your leveler out of the dirt and elements by 8" is what sold me.

Brad … I’ve been on the MOC several years and haven’t asked many questions unless I wanted to know something for my benefit as well as for others that are interested in my question. We all buy things and later have buyer's remorse. I wanted to know if there was any “snap pad” remorse here on the MOC. Frankly I’m satisfied with the responses from both sides.
I’ll also go as far as to beg to differ with you on what snap pads and wood do as to function. They both provide a larger foot print and they both somewhat cushion the foundation for the hydraulic rams. As for the 1-1/8” number … for conversations sake, I loped off the hexagon points and went with the advertised 9” dia for standard feet and 11” dia for “snap pads”. (Put a 9" circle squarely inside an 11" circle and what do you have all the way around ... about 1") And yes I can calculate what percentage of area that is.

Snap Pads
I just put snap pads on my 2020 3931 FB. Haven't moved the trailer from the initial install location but will next week. I paid 130.00 for the package of 6 at an RV Station and thought that was a good deal compared to Amazon and other pricing.
I held off on adding these mainly due to price over 2x12 blocks. I did add rope handles to my blocks and that was one of the smarter additions Ive done.
I really got tired of having to put the blocks down and pick them up every move. They would always have dirt or grass on them and storing in the pass through storage was a mess. So I stored them in a milk crate standing on edge in the bed of my TV. That works fine until the moisture gets to them and then the deterioration sets in. Most of my boards have cracked or split as well.
I think I will like the Snap Pads but time will tell. I will continue to carry my blocks for severely unlevel sites.
As far as the Anderson blocks go I have seen them crush from the weight and was told when I picked up my pads that they would not recommend them for that reason.
Just wanted to share my thoughts on the subject.

I do not use snap pads as they are pricy............I use regular Camco ones.

We got the snap pads over 5 years ago when we first purchased our RV. At that time all 6 were $95.00. I like them for concrete, stones and some sand locations. They seem to stabilize the movement and prevent sliding as well. Would I invest $80 for just 2 of them now, probably not, there is no reason for that much profit, its recycled material. my 2 cents...
