New 2021 GMC Furrion Camera Issue
We just traded our 1 Ton GMC and our 2018 Montana 42' for smaller truck and Montana (3121RL) but kept our Furrion camera as it was relatively new(a second purchase). We have not been able to get it to work with the new system set up as of yet. We verified it worked on the traded unit so know it works on the longer RV and we have gone to 7 feet less so that should not be a problem. We have talked to GMC and have received an adapter for the GMC side. We called Furrion and was advised to pair the camera and screen. We did that and it looked great in the truck but when we put the camera back on the RV it says no signal. That is with the running lights on. What is next? Has anyone else had this issue? Any and all help is appreciated!

My suggestion is to start with the camera connection at the back of the camper. Use a volt meter to determine that 12 volts is present to the camera. Also check that the polarity (positive/negative) is correct.

Newer GMCs only put out 7 volts to lights. that is too low to power the camera. Furrion makes an adaptor

I had a similar issue with my 2021 Silverado and Montana 377FL. I wired up the camera but Chevy updated electronics in the trailing plug to send reduced power to power the lights, which is what your camera operates on. A quick check is to pop off a side marker lens, remove the bulb and check the voltage reading, mine ranged from 9.6-11.6v depending on location. Furrion sells a power adapter but it only works on 2019/2020 models Not 2021 since GM updated electronics again this year.
The simple fix is the access the side marker light closest to the battery on the RV. All you need to do is splice in to the side marker light and put a 12v inline on/off switch in between the light and battery. My run is only about 3 feet accessible inside to wire up and works great. I put the inline switch for when its in storage to ensure nothing pulls from the battery.
Once I did this it adequately powers the backup camera and only cost about $10 for a switch and piece of wire you probably have lying around. So until Furrion or Haloview figure out a new power adapter this is the easiest and cheapest solution.

Harlow, does the Furion system wirelessly hook up to our factory in dash system of our trucks? I have a 2020 Chevy Duramax.

Furrion camera wire install solution
I attached a couple pictures, hopefully you can see them and understand.
You just wire the furrion side marker camera as normal and attach a positive line from that connection to any lead off the battery. This will then supply the camera with enough power to actually use. I added the switch and a 15amp fuse between the battery and the side marker to allow me to easily turn on/off “adequate “ power. Just turn on before driving and turn off when you get to your destination.

To 432bartman: The Furrion wirelessly hooks up to the Camera also from Furrion. We have a 4.3" Camera. They currently come in 3 sizes.

Has anyone tried a Step up 6v to 12v DC-DC converter?

After installation of the switch, do you still turn on the trucks running lights? If so, does the increased voltage feed back to the truck and cause any issues? I ordered the parts and I thank you for adding the links for the parts and your you tube instructions.

I just leave the lights on auto. When I first wired it up before I finalized everything the only error I had was on the trailer screen saying to “check connections”. Which I did and all the lights were working, I believe it may have been initially confused why 12volts were returning when it was only sending 9volts to begin with. I also only had it hand twisted together so it may have had a loose connection.
So at last pull I just hooked up like normal, turned on the camera power switch and had no errors on the truck. But it may say to check your connection or lights but a quick check you can confirm everything works fine and dismiss the dash notification. For me it hasn’t came back up since, so it may have been a loose connection before I finalized everything.

I was going to try it but for some reason it would take 10 days to get to me so I passed and went my own way. It also wasn’t clear on Amazon posts whether it worked for 3 cameras or just 1 so I decided against it at the time because I wanted it to work now.

Never heard of that. Why would they put out any less than 12 volts? I may have to go out and check mine with a volt meter. I do believe that with 35+ feet of wire to the rear running lights, you could get that much of a voltage drop.

I'm hoping to install this weekend. I'm going to install at the feed to the running lights. I've read on other forums that it'll work. I'll let you know the results.

Thanks I’m curious to hear how it turns out. Do you have side marker cameras your setting up too?

I wonder if this has to do with LED running lights vs incandescent? Maybe the “smart” system senses the lower voltage requirement ? I don’t have a Furion camera, but mine is connected to the running lights (incandescent) and I have never had a problem with either my 2007 or my 2021 Silverado
