Any 2004, 2980 RL members that can help
This is a question that I need help on from any owner of the same model and year Montana I have 2004 , 2980L.
I need to know the type of in house DC power supply for our Monty , I dont think mine is charging the batteries very well, also is the charger part of the fuse panel or is it separate and mounted under and behind the wall of the service panel.
next is there a way of testing the DC inverter for load output and voltage.
A thanks for all that answer and have input to my question.

Don: I am 99,9999% sure you have an IOTA DLS 45 converter. This is a stand alone box physically separate from the power box. It is located under the stairs and powered by single 120V outlet. Remove the back wall of the pass thru compartment to access it.
Check the output voltage of the converter with a voltmeter at the output connections. It should be around 13.6V DC if it is working. Then check the voltage at the batteries for the same values. They should be all the same.

thank you
Thanks Carl, Ill check it out, thanks for the voltage #s too.
When you say pass through are you talking about the Basement area? if you are I didn't know that wall was removable Ill have to take a good look down there. I will also look near the fuse panel at the entry door and behind the vacuum. I always hear a fan going on every now and then by the breaker box.
Have a wonderful Easter this weekend. or that other holiday Pass Over..
Don

I had a 2005 2980. Carl is correct on location. On mine, there was also an add-on thing that helped to properly charge the batteries. I think it was less than $50. I forget what the various charge modes are called, but it would put out 14.6 V, then drop to 13 something and finally 12 something, I believe. Others can probably fill you in on this. Oh, I just mentioned this if you get a new one or if the old one is okay but you don't have this gizzmo.

I have a 2005 2955 RL and added one of these. It works great! The IOTA can be upgraded by adding an IQ4 module. It is a little plugin doodad and it works very well.

One thing to watch for if thinking of adding the IQ4. On some models of IOTA it was built in internal but the plug is still there. Read the label carefully!

Yes Don, I was meaning the basement area with doors on each end. That back wall is held in by 6 or so screws. I seem to recall that year's design was a two piece wall. You want to remove the portion on the curb side. The IOTA will be a silver box - you can't miss it.

We had a similar issue with our '10 2955, and when I pulled the rear basement wall, found the AC plug for the Inverter had worked it's way part way out, so the inverter wasn't getting any AC.

I want to thank all for the help and locations of the converter, and the suggestions of the type to use .
I went on the internet and found a IOTA DLS-55-IQ4, 12 V 55A CONVERTER CHARGER W/ INTERNAL IQ4. it has a 3 stage charging , 14 A, then 13. then 12 it also stops charging the battery when the battery reaches full charge. I run 2, OPTMA. D31M Blue tops so the high voltage for the initial start charge is important . this charger is a 55 amp and is 10 amps higher than the original which is 45 amps, is there any reason why I shouldn't run 55 verses a 45 amp charger.
waiting for an answer before I spend the money.
Thanks Don

I have a different model but it is a 2004, I replaced my converter with this, and it gives you every charging option I need.

Don't worry about 45 versus 55 amps on charger section. Will just be able to supply more current for a faster charge profile if batteries need it.
