You should have no trouble on that route at all. If you are familiar with Wolf Creek Pass, you know that will be your only 'high pass'. LaVeta pass is one of the easiest in Colorado. We were over that route last Summer. There was construction on both sides of Wolf Creek Pass, but otherwise we had no difficulty. We were pulling our 2955 Montana with our 2500 Duramax. I know your reluctance to go via Ouray and Montrose. I have been over that route many time, but never since we have been towing.
