Are Sailun Tires Standard
Hello to all Montana owners
This is my first attempt to post a message and question.
Has anyone purchased a 2021 without Sailun tires as standard equipment?
We purchased 2021 High Country 295RL in August of 2020. From my understanding all Montana’s come with Sailun tires as standard equipment and I saw a video of a 2020 with Sailun tires standard. My Montana came with Trailer King. Is there a way to have this problem can be rectified

My Legacy unit came with Rainier G rated tires. When we bought it in January 2018 I did not know about Saliuns. The time to get it taken care of is when you buy and before you pull it off the lot. You can try to horse-trade with your dealer to get some Saliuns installed at a cheaper than retail price. I don’t know what other options you have other than just outright buying them yourself. You pulled it off the lot as is...I think it’s done.
I recently put saliuns on my rig. I had no issues with the rainiers...two years and 15,000 miles...but the sidewalls were showing some crazing cracks - so it was time. I bought the Saliuns from simple tire.com and had the mounted by Discount Tire.

During our factory tour at the 2019 rally Sailuns were OEM tires on the production line.

We have a 2020 HC 381TH and it doesn't have Sailun tires. I cannot remember what is on it, but they are not Sailun. It is on my list to change them.

Montanas come with Sailuns. The High Country is a different trailer and does *NOT* come with Sailuns. Just one of many differences between the two.

I think perhaps some buyers don’t realize that they are not the same, and I’m sure many salespeople gloss over that fact in order to make a sale. Just like it’s Cadillac by GM and Buick by GM, it should say High Country by Montana.

This question is running in two different threads.
Nowhere in the governing regulations or tire industry standards will you find reference to brand names. All RV trailer tires are fitted to the trailer certified GAWRs by designated size and load capacity. Currently the load capacity being fitted to new trailers is 10% above GAWR. In other words, a trailer with 7000# vehicle certified axles will have tires that provide 3850# of load capacity, each.
In the past, Keystone has been known to offer optional tire sizes by brand name. The most popular one was the GY G614, having an LT in its designated size. At the time those options were offered, GY was the only tire manufacturer building that designated size. However, when optional tire sizes are used, the change MUST be done prior to first sale. Vehicle certification requires tires fitted to the vehicle to be the same designated size as those depicted on the federal certification label at the time of first sale.

If you look at the Montana website:
High Country comes with - Premium 12-ply F-rated tires w/ 6-year manufacturer warranty & Tredit Care Plus roadside assistance.
Montana comes with - Premium Sailun G-rated tires w/ 6-year manufacturer warranty & Tredit Care Plus roadside assistance

Thanks for all the info, Sailun or Goodyear are the way to go. We had a blow out on our last rig and it wasn’t fun. Love the 295RL but I am going to have to get use to the height

Yes, it can be rectified easily. Simply remove around $800 from your pocket and insert into a tire dealers hands and instruct them to install 5 new Sailun tires. LOL
One thing is for certain, you will be sorry if you don't do it when a trailer king tire blows and destroys your trailer.

There are lots of different stories about tire quality. Here is another side of one of the stories.

And then he omits Sailun and Goodyear (both the G614 and the Endurance) which are well respected tires. Me thinks he was incentivized for his opinions.

I am unsure which rims come on the High Country. To run G614’s or Sailun’s they need to be 110 psi wheels. Just a heads up before you order tires. It would be a bummer to order new tires and find out you can’t use the same wheels. Again, check the stamp on the back of the rims to make sure.

I agree. Almost all OEM LRF tires are going to come on wheels/rims with a 95 maximum PSI rating. All of the 2020 High Country line-up are equipped with LRF tires. There was no reason for the OEM provider to use wheels rated higher than the trailer manufacturer's requirement.

Money. Easier to stock and buy in bulk one size rim
