I was looking at the Garmin for RV which I’m sure is a great vice and has great reviews. But I have to many single use devices so I went with an iPad mini and have down loaded the app GoPilot GPS for RVs. You can add size of RV etc which I am hoping will route me around low bridges etc. I have also loaded all my other RV apps such as finding rest area’s etc. I’ll be heading south out of Bend Oregon in a few days to get over the mountains before the snow hits. I’ll try and post my thoughts on it after this trip.

We've used the Rand McNally GPS since we went full time in 2011. Over 80,000 miles and it hasn't got us in trouble yet.

Had ours for over 4 years. 2 coast to coast trips, only really screwed twice.
Once led us on a back road in Virginia. Thank God I was able to back into and turn around in a church parking lot. People came out wondering why we so far out in the sticks towing! They watched us turn around.
Another time it kept leading us in circles. The RV campground was on a street that GPS thought was weight restricted, so we weren't allowed to go on that road even though the only entrance to RV park was on that road.
One time, however it warned LP restriction in Baltimore tunnels, routed us around them.
Lesson learned...have paper maps and (hopefully) a co-pilot as a backup. When something doesn't look right, it probably isn't.

I agree, we always carry a truckers atlas as a backup.

I have garmin 660 RV. Bought it June 2018. The 770 was new at the time but I did not like the fact that it (apparently) needed to Bluetooth to my phone in order to get traffic info. The 660 had built in traffic info antenna...plus the 660 was $199 then and the $770 was $399. I use it plus I use google maps thru apple CarPlay.

I have a 760 and the new 780. Cannot get the cord to work in the 760 any longer, grandson played with it. The new on can update by usb or wifi! Would not have bought another if the 1st gave any problems!

Garmin GPS
We used the Garmin on our second trip. Everything worked great until about 20 minutes from our destination we were directed on a road that was not fit for any towed vehicle. We had some cutbacks that I think we could have kissed our bumper and on one of them our trailer bumper drug on the pavement. After about 20 minutes we finally reached another road and we had another 30 minutes to reach the campground. We have never used it again.

We have the Garmin 770. It has worked well but we have had some issues. On our first trip to Rocky Top, TN it took us on a road that we should not have been driving our truck, let alone pulling a trailer. If we had been in a long motorhome we would have scraped bottom on at least one of the hills it took us over. We ended up having to pull onto a side road and back across the road we were on to turn around. Waze found the campground OK. When going to Whitehorse, YT it tried to take us down back road. Remembering Tennessee, we stopped and called the campground. This turned out to be a problem with all Garmins. We continue to use it, warily, double checking the route with Waze and using the Trucker's atlas.

Garmin RV 660 (6" screen) or 770 (7" screen) and trucker's atlas. No trouble in 5 years and 50,000 miles.

We have use the Magellan (don't remember the model) RV GPS for 5 yrs with very few issues. Sometimes it took us on a less desirable route because it goes the shortest but never where we really shouldn't be. This fall in VA getting off the Interstate it kept taking us back on interstate then to the next exit and u-turn back to the first exit. On third go around I realized it was the road sign sending me the wrong direction (weird intersection) and then Maggy was trying to correct it. It actually may have saved me from a bad situation. It is important to enter your size and weight and turn that option on. On ours you can switch to auto mode for when you are just using the TV by itself.
We were in Jersey City one time going to a location I was familiar with and wondering why it was giving different and crazy out of the way directions and then realized it thought I had the trailer with me.
