Should I add transfer tank with factory 34 gal
Hi All,
I've been considering a fuel transfer tank in addition to my factory 34 gallon tank. I was wondering how many people that have a similar size factory tank have opted one way or the other. I'm on the fence considering that I'd have to stop to transfer fuel, so why not just buy some. Lot's of pros and cons either way, cost being one of them.

I have a 30 gal in bed, takes up 8". Have had for 12 years and have move between three trucks. At this point I have three friends that I travel with do the same thing after traveling with me. It just make life easier.

I replaced my stock tank with a larger Titan tank. It's great to have a little more fuel on board.

I did the same and this is the 2nd truck I did that too and the new truck is a long bed so I ended up with 62 gallons, I didn't want to give up space in my truck bed.

We have done fine with our stock tanks and have not felt the need for an auxillery. But if you feel the need, go for it.

If you live in an area of high fuel cost and you can find a deal from time to time then the extra tank would have value for me. We've full timed for 8 years now with the standard 31 gallon dodge tank and have never had an issue. My bladder is only good for half a tank so I'm stopping anyway. I also don't want that much weight I don't need.

That would depend on where you are traveling. in the lower 48, you'll probably never have an issue finding a place to refill so the bladder issue is not really relevant. But if you travel to Alaska carrying more fuel could well be the priority issue. Just sayin'.
I've investigated the Titan fuel tank swap for a RAM 3500HD DRW (our probable TV based on our research)... looks like a promising alternative. 55 gals(about 50 usable) vs 32 in the stock tank. Price competitive. More bed space is a plus.
As has already been said, if you have the budget for it and the need for your application, it seems worthwhile. FWIW.

I have a 48 gallon stock tank. Aux/transfer tank with electric valve wired to uplifter switch is on wish list. DW is good for 1.5 -3 hours. Added range would give greater choice on where I would have to stop.
Now we were retired and travel at a more leisure pace it would move down on the list.

Adding an aux fuek tank may put your TV over that dratted yellow 'B' pillar sticker max weight. I tow a wee bit over that sticker now. Adding a second tank would put me way over (diesel weighs almost 7 lb/gallon)

We started our FT chapter yesterday. I replaced the stock Ram 30 gal tank with a Titan 60 gal tank this past August. I am really happy with the increased range. Wish I had swapped out tanks much earlier.

Well, at least a 1 ton SRW would do - that sticker is a mythical number. Only applies to the truck as it rolls off the assembly line.

I have 60 gallon in bed tank with electric pump and nozzle. e stop at rest areas as needed and I fill the truck tank there. Get too your destination and refill all tanks and ready for the next day.

I swapped my OEM tank for a 70 gallon tank from Transfer Flow...didn't lose any bed space and it uses all the OEM gauges.

We are in no hurry and distance traveled is not a issue. We stop every 200/250 miles and stretch and fuel.We have not had a problem anywhere since 2006. If you feel you want or need one get it.

Thanx for all the replies.
I think experience will be "my" best teacher. Weight is an issue along with cost. I to have to stop every two or three hours for the dogs and stretch my legs. I had a blood clot a while back from sitting way too long. I like the idea of having enough reserve to pick my fuel stops, but there has to be a trade off. A spare 5 gal can for now
