Any Keystone RV Ownership for BOMB tires?
I am new in the forum and don't know if this was covered before. Just had consecutive Explosions that damaged each side of my MONTANA. Called Keystone and as normal they washed hands, sent a formal communication and no calls from them. I am now having two way communication with Tire company and I think will lose time, they are asking for details, quotes, etc but started to put road block regarding what they think is their responsibility. I do not know if having a chat with a law firm will help and also considering call the local News and ask them if they like have some kind o f rating getting this safety risk exposed. Someday will be a fatality and then will be a recall plus high$$$ compensation. I can also post on Keystone RV social forums, ...

Save your receipts and take photos for the inevitable class action lawsuit.

Old old topic, Marathons and China Bombs. You go for it, but don’t expect much. In the past, Goodyear did provide some financial relief for Marathon failures. Have not heard much recently in that regard.

Sorry for your misfortune. That is an aggrivating experience. The tire maker does need to know the details they are asking for. Give it to them with more, like how you check pressures regularly, treadwear, even the weather at the time. They will usually cover the tires and sometimes some $ toward the damage. Trailer life magazing can help sometimes with consumer complaints.
Good luck.

As you are new to the MOC perhaps you haven't found the "Montana Tires" category. http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...play.php?f=213
Stock tires have been a problem for over 15 years. and this category reflects those problems. There are 480+ threads and over 8,000 posts. Unfortunately I think you will find you have little chance of tire vendor assistance unless it is Goodyear. You will be better served to replace all the tires with either the Sailun G637 or the Goodyear G614 and moving on.

Carl got it right as usual.
Don’t leave home with your China Bombs. Tires are and have been the major problem for years.

Biankym89,
First, welcome to the forum!
Please let us know more about your rig, what kind of tires, what TPMS you have and the details of the blowouts.
I would think insurance will be your best course to get help.

As Carl said, this is a long standing issue, but the problem isn't Keystone, it's the government. The Government allows a much lower standard of saftey for trailer tires than vehical tires and as long as the Government allow that manufacturers will hide behind the weight limits the tire folks put on there. That said, in recent years Keystone has been putting Sailuns on the Montanas.

Well I am so glad that I found this web site....I found it just by chance and it is full of so much information. Unfortunately we are already on a 5 week road trip with 2 weeks left and 800 plus miles. We found that one of our tires has separated and will be putting on the spare. But now we will travel without a spare ..... rest assured when we get home we will be putting all new tires on.

Reading all the posts you will get more suggestions than you can absorb. My suggestion is consider Light Truck tires by a reputable mfg. I had to replace all4 originals at around 3000 miles due to actual 6x12 chunk of tread loss on one and my tire dealer looking at the other three and seeing big bubbled areas under the tread on them. Changed to FirestoneTransforce and have about 15000 miles on them and they still look like new.. LT tires have to meet more stringent standards than ST. My dealer was able to get a $75 allowance per tire from his supplier which I appreciated.

Cami/Dean - If one tire separated, expect the others to do the same thing. With 2 weeks and 800 miles to go I would not be comfortable traveling without a spare. I had a tire fail while on a trip and immediately replaced them all. And those replaced tires were GY G614s not a cheap China Bomb.
I suggested you replace the spare at a minimum!

Cami/Dean I agree With Carl 100% you need to have spare tire! And when you get home order up Sailun's for your reg.

in answer to your question Keystone is not the manufacturer of the tires however IF your Montana is still under the one year Keystone warranty they should not have "washed hands " with you.
You will have to deal with the tire Manufacturer and many here have had good luck with that. Yes they will ask for pictures and details. You do need better quality tires your choice.

Even new cars and trucks do not warranty the tires.
