Best route from San Antonio to Vegas
Considering traveling from San Antonio, Texas to Las Vegas in late January. I would rather stay on good roads (e.g., Interstates) and drive a little farther if necessary. Any advice on what route to take (and more importantly, what routes to avoid) would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

First the disclaimer. I have only driven part of this route, and towed none of it.
I would stay south taking I-10 all the way to the west side of Phoenix. Then loop 303 to US 60/93 north all the way to Vegas. And avoid Phoenix during rush hour. I would not recommend I-40, especially flagstaff, in January. And check weather forecasts ahead of the next day’s drive before hitting the road. Even I-10 can get ice and snow.

I-10 to Phoenix, US-60/93 to Las Vegas via Wickenburg & Kingman. Good roads all the way except through El Paso.

We driven those roads many times. I agree that's your best route but we take a by pass around El Paso which comes out in Anthony, NM.

Do a search for El Paso here and see another discussion of getting to Phoenix and bypassing El Paso. It has a little more detail of how to go around El Paso.

Thanks for all the input. One question for you more experienced travelers: we went to Chama, NM from San Antonio last October and went through El Paso both ways on IH10-I don't remember that being a bad experience. Did I miss something? TIA.

El Paso just seems really busy with kind of narrow lanes and not the smoothest road. Of course this isn't comparing to California interstates, etc.
