Since we're planning on taking the Montana on a longer vacation this year, I decided to 'invest' in a CB radio (have a ham radio in truck, but hams are 1. often boring to talk to, and 2. if they don't know you often don't want to talk to you...). The radio is a Cobra 75.
Does anybody have any ideas as to how ro mount the CB antenna on a Dodge Ram - with the boundary condition that it must fit into a 7ft tall garage w/o having to get out of the truck every time I pull in...
I was looking at the Firestik II antennas and antenna mounts. In the bedrail hole right behind the cab, I have approx. 2ft 4" clearance; on the hood, I have about 2ft 8" clearance.
Any opinions as to whether a 2ft Firestik II on the Dodge Ram hood mount would have acceptable performace? (I know that a 108" whip, fixed-mounted in the middle of the roof would be
best choice, but that's not an option for me.
Any other ideas? Maybe co-phased 2ft Firestik II on the bedrail would perform better? Any ideas/hints/opinions welcome.
Thanks. Alain.
