Nails holding Coroplast to frame
Ok Keystone, I understand trying to minimize cost and maximize profit but do you really have to attach the Coroplast with a power nail gun? Please just use screws and washers and add the extra $50 or so to the purchase price. Whatever the cost, it will be less than what I have to pay (or labor if I do it myself) a tech to remove the nails the first time the cover has to come off. In either case the customer is going to pay the cost; why make it hard on us?
I spent 3+ hours pulling all the nails (30 on just one side) on my rig and replacing with screws.
I consider it unethical for you to use these fasteners knowing 100% that at some time in the future it is going to cause a repair tech a lot of trouble and cost the owner more than if you had done it right the first time.

Scott,
From the photo, the fasteners look like self-tapping screws to me. Are you sure they are nails, not screws ? If they are nails, they must be driven with a very strong pneumatic gun, as my experience with the frame flanges is that they are hard, so hard I used an M8 cobalt drill bit to pilot the replacement stainless steel self-tapping 1/4 x 1" screws (with s/s fender washers to avoid tear-out of the Cloroplast).

Oh Scott is right that those are nails. There have been lots of complaints about them. Keep clicking on the picture and you will get a much larger view where you can see there are no threads to keep these puppies in place.

Jeff, maybe your techs cut the coroplast but ours here removed all of them and so did the service tech down in AZ when I had the gray tank replaced.
Since this picture and Scott's project was back in April of 2018, I think he has learned a lot since then when it comes to the underbelly. LOL The nails are put in with a high pressure air gun and nailed right through the frame. I'm lucky and all of the fasteners on our 2013 rig were self-tapping screws and a lot easier to remove and replace. I have put fender washers on the screws the we put them back on or in so the screw did not go through the coroplast belly.

This issue has to be on the top ten most hated things about Thor RVs. You would think at some point they might get the message!!!
Like the OP I have replaced most of my nails with self tapping screws and large fender washers.
Would it take a few extra seconds to do it right? Yes. Would it significantly increase customer satisfaction? Duh look at all the posts on this issue!!

This is a project i plan on taking on this winter if I don't have to deal with it before then. Too darn hot, even under there right now.

Nothing to removal of the nails. Flat wonder bar and a hammer they pop right out. I did ream the holes and replaced with self tapping screws with fender washers Probably nearly as fast as removing screws

Easy to remove them with a 1/4 inch driver. Just remove the plastic on the head and unscrew them. Most will come all the way out but those that do not just require a little prying as you unscrew with the driver. Use the same holes and replace with self tapping screws.

It would take less time to remove them and would be easier than cutting the coraplast

I can't make a rally for a few years yet BUT you folks have my proxy to address this issue with Keystone/Thor! This has to be up there with the Thetford toilet on the "what I don't like about my Keystone/Thor camper list!
If Thor reads these posts at all they should have figured out by now that no one (to include dealers and repair shops) considers their corplast mounting nails the right way to mount something that HAS TO COME OFF for any type of undercarriage repair!
So I am considering this post to be a test. Are you reading this THOR?

2021 3121 RL: The factory is still using these "nails".
I removed the underside to install the composting toilet vent hose and had to deal with these nails! PIA! I used a nut driver to back the head of the nail out then used a small pry bar to leverage them out the rest of the way with the nut driver in reverse. I also want to change out all of them to screws. WARNING!! Be careful when you take the underbelly down because you will get a face full of sawdust!
