Montana with solar pkg
2019 3021 RL with factory installed solar pkg. keystone and jaboni both provided operating manual however the are different depending on what controller I have. The problem is no one knows where the controller is. I'm adding 440 amp of batteries and need to tell the controller what I have. One controller has a rotary dial which you can set the algorithm. Anybody know where the controller is?

It's behind the convenience center/behind the basement wall, the picture is taken over the basement wall. I added Lithium batteries so I had to make changes to the little yellow dial on the controller from #2 to #7 to accommodate the change to Lithium.
Here is the company the supplies the equipment to Keystone

I checked my controller and did not see the dial but I believe you said it's on the bottom of the controller how did you set it if you cannot see the dial

You need to remove it to adjust it you can get a mirror and hold it under to see the dial. The only reason to adjust it is when you change battery types.
Here is the dial

Putting in 2 six volt AGM 220 APH batteries today and, will adjust my controller to 3. Not sure what it's at today. Keep me posted on how you upgrade to additional panel and batteries work out. Are you going to be at quartside in Jan.? If so I may look youmup to see your setup.

I will be adding 200 Amp of Lithium, can I keep the factory controller?

Are you using drop in replacement lithium iron phosphate? These would be of the Battleborn, Relion, etc. variety. If so they have onboard BMS solutions and you should be able to keep your OEM charger with no concerns. If you are not going with LiFePO4 that has integrated BMS you can still use the charger but you will have to do some trial and error to find the sweet spot that correlates near the SOC that you want as your max battery settings. This is because there most likely is no means for the OEM solar controller to talk to the BMS.

Yes but it won't fully charge them I Keystone upgraded mine with a booster button. Lithium needs a converter that will charge at 14.6 amp's

The BB’s will charge just fine. Progressive Dynamics also offers a lithium charger addition for batteries with less sophisticated BMS.

Thanks for the information. Yes I will be installing 2 Battleborn 100AH batteries, equal in weight to one wet/AGM with the same usable Amps an 4 100AH wet/AGM's, seams logical with a 10+ year life span.

This is a link for the the MPPT controller and remote display that comes with the solar flex option in 2020.
https://jabonipowerproducts.com/wp-c...al_5.23.19.pdf
According to the link your options for battery type are wet lead-acid, AGM, gel and lithium. You can select which type from the remote display. I wish the display also showed % of discharge or battery life like the Victron's do but it doesn't seem like that's available yet.

I just added the Renolgy 500 battery monitor and love how easy it is to read.

Got this from jaboni about the factory solar set up
Adam,
Currently, the 2000w inverter is wired to the Recliners, Living room TV, Fridge, Bedroom Nightstand outlet and Kitchen GFI. It is not wired to the AC and it isn’t strong enough to run one. To run an AC you really need a large battery bank, 3000w inverter/charger and the AC should have a “Soft Start” installed.
You can add a second panel to the existing system without overloading it. If you go any larger you would need to run a second set of wires or wire the panels in series and go with a larger MPPT charger that could handle the higher voltage and upgrade the wire and fuse from the Solar Charger to the batteries. Technically, the 10awg wires from roof to charger can carry 30 amps dc. If you had 4 265w panels wired in series that would be about 9 amps at 117 volts. You could then run a 75amp 150v charger and only change the wiring in the lower compartment.
We will have our own 60a charger fairly soon but we do carry the full line of Victron chargers if you want to go larger.
Thanks,
Matt Wolkins

How much of a pain was it to wire up?

It wasn't hard at all. But I guess it would depend on were you want to mount it. I have the front bedroom so I just had to drill a small hole just big enough for the plug to fit through and ran it up through the floor into the bedroom dresser.

Did it come with a battery monitor? If so what features and/or information does it give you?
