Residential Fridge Power
Question….
Our Montana High Country is a 2018 375 FL, parked permanently at an RV park at a lake. Will be winterizing soon, and would like to leave shore power connected for the winter, in order to maintain internet connection to the rig. However, I’d like to disconnect power to the residential fridge and leave doors open for the winter. I don’t see an AC receptacle readily available behind or to the side of the fridge, which is bolted and strapped in place. There is a small plastic box that houses the ice maker shut off valve, along with some direct wiring connections that I assume is for the fridge, but not a “plug”. So…… Can I disconnect the fridge at the inverter? If I do so, does that affect my batteries? Since our unit is parked permanently, we don’t have a good understanding of how all that works, and would like some help from the forum. Thx in advance.

On our model the plug is behind the built in stove, so could not be unplugged. We used demo mode when we didn't want the fridge to cool. We closed the doors after it was well dried inside.

Thank you! We have a Samsung residential fridge / freezer. On your fridge, how did you set the demo mode?

We have a 281TM and there is a plug, but you have to slide the refrigerator out to access it.

Don't worry about accessing the plug. Turn off the ac breaker that feeds 120vac to the shore power side of the transfer switch for the inverter or if keystone used an inverter with a builtin transfer switch. In the front battery compartment you should see 12vdc being routed to the inverter through a switch and large amperage breaker or fuse. Turn that switch off and no 12vdc can get to the inverter to produce any power to the fridge. You will need to remove water from the icemaker line so cold doesn't cause issues. Keystone should have plumbed cold water under tge sink to a shutoff valve that needs to be turned off. As well, there should be a water drain for the icemaker line under the trailer that you have to open. And on the front bottom of the icemaker, you should find a button to cycle the icemaker to manually refill the icemaker tray. Push this multiple times until no water is seen filling the icemaker.

Another question on the switch in battery compartment…. We have a battery cutoff switch in the “wet bay” also. What is the difference in function between those two switches?

The cutoff switch in the wet bay cuts the 12V power to the inverter only.
The red key disconnect switch in the convenience center disconnects most, but not all 12v power from the battery to the coach.
The best solution for total 12V power disconnect is to remove the ground cable from the battery. That way nothing has 12V.

Greg,
Another option. Disconnect all power to the rig. Set up a battery with a small inverter and solar panel to power your router and modem.

Turn turn off the inverter and turn off the breaker to the kitchen.

I’ll check that. Do you turn off the nverter at the AC breaker panel?
