shoddy furniture
I love my Montana but the furniture is awful. It is supposed to be leather - ha! It is cheap crap. The 'leather' is literally peeling off the fabric. The unit is only 4 years old and I have to replace 2 recliners and the sofa. Has anyone had any success getting Montana to address this issue? We are not even full timers - only go out for an annual trip up north to visit the kids. Use the unit maybe 4 weeks out of the year. This is not normal wear and tear.

Most of them are bonded leather (basically leather glued together like plywood). Furniture in these things a short term at best. In our old Montana we never used the easy chairs or mattress sold them new. On our new rig we are using the chairs, but I'm already working on where our replacement theater seats are going to come from. All furniture was supplied by the low bidder.

Like DQ Dick said. We were aware of the Quality of the so called leather and did not order our Montanas with the so called leather furniture.

Yea you are right. The stuff isn’t much. Cloth would be better.
When people look at new campers they think, leather wow!! You can’t look at it and see it’s junk.

so now what do we do
It is obvious I have to get new furniture. What have the rest of you done? Is it worthwhile to reupholster or should I just buy new? If new - where did you go? The camping mags are so expensive. I get Lazy Boy for the chair but what about the sofa?
BTW - we did not select the furniture, it is what came with the camper. But I have had other campers for years and never had this issue. I am very disappointed.

One of several reasons we went with the 5er we own - it had cloth covered furniture. That is pretty solid stuff but even that was replaced by the more comfortable La-Z-Boy wall hugger recliners and an Englander sofa(a La-Z-Boy brand). Those virtually unused takeouts are now in our basement and can be had.

Any chance you have a large dog that you allow on the furniture?

yes on the sofa, no on the recliner. We thought it was the dog at first, but since he is not on the recliner and there are areas on the sofa, such as the side of the armrest, that he would never have reached, it was not because of him.

We just replaced our old stuff with a very nice theater style recliners center console type and a queen size hid-a-bed. Complete with decorative pillows, (we selected the fabric) took about two weeks to order and get. Made by Stantons Furniture in Tualatin, OR., but it is not available everywhere. Also the hid-a-bed has a real, though fairly thin, memory foam mattress, an upgrade, but at least not a crappy air mattress that came with our 2013 3582RL. Order it through Richardson's Furniture in St. Helens, OR. Allow about 4 weeks and have a nice road trip!

We don't like the chairs and dinning table arangment in our new rig so we'll be looking at the furniture folks in Elkhart when we're at the Rally. We'd really like to get rid of what we have and have a booth custom built.

We have replaced furniture over the years with Flexsteel,, Lazy Boy, and most recently purchased two ultra leather recliners from Glastop RV Furniture out of Pompano Beach.

There is also an RV furniture outlet in Nampa, Idaho that seems to offer most anything you want. We replaced the recliners after one started to peel, with a theater seat from local furniture store and sofa with a jack knife from Nampa. When we bought our 5er Good ol Crapping World managed to to sneak in an Interior/exterior furniture and finish “warranty “ that covers absolutely nothing! ($1999 non refundable) they will TRY to repair it and if that don’t work tuff crap! The real Farce is the No refund crap, thank you Lemonis!

Friends of ours had their shoddy furniture reupholstered in Florida a couple of years ago with real leather. It was expensive but less expensive than the purchase of new furniture.

Is there a problem with buying a normal home loveseat? Not sure how I would get one into the 5er. Our rig is less that 6 month old but already I can see the furniture is cheap.

Poor quality furniture
We too have the same problem with our 2015 Big Country. Our theater seating back is peeling. Please let us know if you are successful in a resolution.

It’s a known issue from about that time period. Keystone won’t do anything about it however. But it’s chinese junk and just flakes apart as you drag it to the garbage. I had exact same experience on 2014 3402RL. Someone mentioned Glastop RV in Pompano Beach Fl. I highly recommend them as well. They make plain looking, but very high quality stuff. Pricey but worth it.

Ours (2016) is doing the same thing, and yes, it's been discussed in previous posts. It has to be the worst bonded leather I've ever seen. Solution is to reupholster at great expense, or locate replacements that will sort of fit.

I would not reupholster. When I pulled ours out and sawsalled to carry to the dump, the construction was as cheap and shoddy as the bonded material itself.
