If the thumb thingie is turned in the direction pointint to the right it is taking from the drivers side tank, with both valves open, the indecater will show green, when the tank is empty it will go to red, then turn the switch to the left and then that tank on the passinger side will be used, I purchased a tank with a gage and installed it on that side so I can see how much gas I have left, I can also fill up the other tank when I want to. I can put in the extra tank when I get it filled.
