It's not really a problem. I have a 2013, and you're right, with the step rails it's barely noticeable. It's not as close to the ground as you think, but I agree iof you were to take it off road, it might cause some problems. I have more of an issue of where you put the DEF in. It would be better to have a DEF fuel door, but I really, really like my truck...
