Safe toilet bowl cleaner
What do others use to clean their porcelain bowls. We don't want to mess up the black tank anymore than we already do. do do?

Safe Toilet Bowl Cleaner
I use Dawn dish washing liquid. I read on a forum that it helps clean the tank sensors of grease and debris. As an aside, most sensors stop working very quickly and are difficult to get working again. I have heard there are new ones that attach to the outside of the tank and work well, but are pricey. Can't say for sure if Dawn does clean the sensors, but I don't think it will hurt the valves and may in fact keep them clean too. Works in the porcelain bowl though. When your toilet starts to "Burp" when you flush, it is time to dump the tank.

When we dump I use Happy Camper. You are already filling the bowl twice to start the process and so I put some in with the first bowl of water and scrub the bowl with it and then go on with the process.

Is there something that will clean the stains from the inside of the bowl and what if the rubber seal is not sealing anymore?

Waterproof grease on seal can solve some problems for a while.

If it is a porcelain bowl any household cleaner and a brush will work. Must brush after letting it sit for a few minutes. I don't know of any that self clean. Be sure bleach is not in the product as it will eat the rubber seals quickly. If you tank is partially full and you cannot find a bleach free cleaner, the diluted bleach will not likely hurt your valve seals but suggest dumping tank after cleaning to be sure. Replacement seals are available at most camper stores.

We do the same thing as DQDICK and have never had any problems! Ya'all need to use Happy Camper instead of all that other junk. You can also use Happy Camper in your gray tanks also.

Dometic has a toilet bowl cleaner that is supposed to also condition the seals. https://www.dometic.com/en-us/us/pro...leaner-_-25426

Most any product that’s not abrasive. I think most of the showers in Montana’s are fiberglass with a gel coat, so any product that is safe on a gel coat should work.

I also use Happy Camper in my Dometic 310. When I put my rig into storage, I put some extra water in the bowl, and put in a little RV holding tank drain valve lubricant. Keeps the seal lubricated.

Dometic (or someplace) has a video of replacing the seal. Mine was pretty new and started slowly leaking. I took it out and cleaned and put on plumbers grease. That fixed it for several years. Eventually had to get a new seal tho. (Toilet is 5 years old now)
