Sewer Boom
My new 3580RL Big Sky has the sewer boom on it. How many feet of sewer hose will the boom hold? What is the best brand of sewer hose to use?

I used a Rhino 15' hose. First you have to connect to the sewer outlet underneath the camper. On the other end with bayonet end removed snake it through the boom. The bayonet end reattached fits in the end of the boom with the cap okay although a tight fit. I quit using the boom because you can not get it empty and will have about a cup of stuff waiting for you when you hook to the campground sewer connection at the next stop. You can not "walk" the sewer hose to make sure all is out of it before you store it. My boom will only swing out to 90 degrees and you have to watch this when parking. Making a 90 degree turn uses up some hose footage if the camper is too far forward of the CG sewer pipe. Just my personal opinion.

Rhino with the ears (lugs) cut off the connections so it goes in and out easier. I did as you on everything except the container and a additional bracket. See site for carrier I used.

I personally use a Flojet Mascerator so I don't need the boom, but there was a nice post today in "Additions and Improvements" called "Sewer Boom Improvements" that has pictures of a sewer boom modification that looked pretty nice. That mod is what I would do if I was going to use the boom. I'd provide a link to that mod, but I don't know how. You'll see it if you go to that forum.

Here is the link to the topic where werhapy modified his sewer boom. It looks like a great idea to me.

they should have made the boom longer....montana are you listening?
i put a rhino sewage hose in there....had to cut it so i could get it into the boom....
i've tried cheaper hoses but they don't last long.

We have a 2011 3580 Montana and the rhino hose just fit we did not have to cut it. It also seems to pivot more than the 90 deg. that some are limited to.

I added the longer tube that Camping World carries also. I had to trim some of the Black Flex stuff off in order for it to bend past 90 degrees. I noticed the last time I was at the dealer that some of the Montana's had a longer tube on them than what mine came with. Maybe they already made the adjustment at the factory.
Oh, and I use the Rhino hose also.
