We we ordered a new 2008 Dodge. We have an 2004.5 but would like a newer truck when we retire. We will get it in the next couple of weeks.

Congrats on the New Dodge.
My '07 is great, best mileage so far has been 22 on the highway solo.
I ordered the Larado with all the toys and all I missed was the sun roof and the DVD player.
Good luck with the Ram

That must be a 2500, Fire1, 1-tons don't get that mileage. Congrats on your new wheels, hookman.

Good choice. If Dodge bwould have had the configuration we needed we would have purchased the Dodge cummings. Best diesel on the market.

I just got my 2008 on Jan 2/08 and took a trip to Venice Fla. I got 11.8 mpg pulling. We left the 5ver there in storage and came home solo and got 18.5 mpg. DW and I will pick it up in April and go to the Keys. I had the oil changed at Venice Dodge the day after we got there. It was black as can be, when I returned home it was still fairly clean. Will change again when I get back home from Key west with Shell Rotella T.

When people report these mileage figures, I hope they're using actual calulations of mileage and fuel used and not computer readings. My '06 Dodge computer consistantly shows 2-3 mpg more then I actually get.

Last summer on actual mileage I got 15 MPG (IMP)while pulling. And that is with a dually. Mileage should even be better this coming summer.

No that is not the computer reading, I divided the gallons(US) into the miles I went to come up with the figures. Although the computer was not that far off!!

Our 05 3500 will get 20+ unloaded on a trip. It was ~17-18 prior to a computer re-flash last year.

We thought we would find one at another dealer but my friend checked all dealers in Canada and there wasn't one available at all with the opitions and colour. So we had to order one from the factory so a 3 month wait.

Hookman you will love the new Dodge. I ordered mine in Oct and it came in just before Christmas. I took delivery on Jan 2 so I could get the rebates plus use my retirment voucher. Make sure you get the Canadian pricing rebate of $6000. Congrats and enjoy many years of safe driving and rving,!!

When my friend figured out the price he included the $6000 rebate. It is still higher than the US price.

Hey Stiles, my 1 ton 2007 Dodge gets that kind of mileage! Not every trip, of course, but 18 to 21 is the norm, solo highway. Best we've done is 23.3 but that was perfect conditions and we were not in a hurry that day. My 1 ton Dodge weighs almost exactly the same as my 2005 F250 did.
Congratulations on the new truck, Hookman. With 26,000 on this Dodge, I'm very happy with it.

Hookman -
There's just something about the smell of new truck. Enjoy it. The only regret I have (Emmel will chime in) is I won't be able to enjoy the smell of wet dog in the new truck. Or all the hair. It's nice that all three manufacturers make a nice pickup. I wonder how long before it will be that Toyota launches their bigger diesel trucks. I know they have prototypes.

Nissan will also introduce a Titan with an International built diesel in 2009. Should be interesting to see what it's capacities are.
