Fridge switches electric to gas?
So why would our Dometic fridge switch from electric to gas and back to electric when it decides it wants too? I checked voltage and connections all good. I have not read about this one before! I know someone out there has, thanks in advance for the help on this one!

My first thought is you lost 110VAC power and it came back on.
My second thought is the control board is acting up. Hope not.
I guess you will have to see if it is a continuing problem.
Good luck and let us know what you find.

Nunya,
I think John is probably right on. Another thing is that perhaps you ran out of propane and the system switched back to electric like it should. Wonder how I know that? Good luck, Dennis

Hey Ron, clean all the contacts on any of the connections you can find, may be a problem there.
Rock crawling as a hobby! Cool. I wouldn't have the nerve. What do you use to air the tires back up?

Thanks for the replies! So..I checked all fuses, all OK. All connections, cleaned the grounds. Have 123v at the board. When I turn fridge off to do checks I pull 120plug and disconnect battery power. When I restart the fridge it starts on AC, stays AC for an hour or so then switches to gas. The auto light works on control board as does the rest of them. Must be the board or something overheats and decides to go to gas?????????? I have no answer? Anybody else got anything.
Ozz, crawlin is a blast, Moab is a mecca for this! Use co2 tank to air back up, faster than compressor.

Nunya,
After all the testing you've done I'll bet it is the control board is going bad. Some RV repair places have a device to check for a bad board. If you have one close to you it might be worth checking it out. Good luck. Dennis

Nunya, I know you said you checked all the connections so I'm risking offending you by asking if you checked the connections to the 110v outlet into which the fridge is plugged in the outside compartment? I have to wonder if there's a bad connection in the line to that outlet? If you checked all that, please disregard.
Also, I can't recall off hand whether the fridge has its own breaker on the breaker panel. Maybe wiggle the breaker to see what happens? Might just be a loose connection in that converter?

Steve, I did check voltage @ receptacle but I will check this inside of for loose connections, as soon as the rain and wind stop. Good Idea! Thanks
