Furnace Comes on by Itself
What the title said. Thermostat is off. The furnace blower started up. Had to pull the furnace fuse to stop it. Happened twice now and I removed the fuse and left it out. WTH????

I'm thinking maybe the actual furnace isn't running, but possibly just the blower fan is running. Possibly the thermostat switch on the fire box is defective and telling the furnace the firebox is hot and needs the fan to cool it off, just like when the furnace turns off but the fan continues to run for a bit after the flame turns off. Might be a problem on the circuit board too. This is the link for the troubleshooting guide on the this site: https://www.montanaowners.com/forums...?do=file&id=11

Is the heat pump or AC in use when this happens. If so you may have your fan set on high or low instead of auto.

No, the thermostat was in the off position, and it was 85 degrees outside.

The fan is set on auto, should the thermostat be on, but neither the AC nor furnace was on. It hasn't happened again, so the mystery goes unsolved.

Furnace comes on by itself
Had this happen often. Pull into a new site only to find the heater had been running. Bottom line was the wires on the thermostat were loose.
