HOLY CRUD that hurt!!!
I am sure some of you have been there, today I went out and worked on the Monty and left the front slide out. Where it is parked at home, the ground rises a bit in that area. Puts the cornor of the slide right about 5'7". I am 5'10". I am sure you can see the problem here. Looking down at what I was carrying I didn't see the slide and the next thing I knew I was on the ground checking out the slide mechanism.
My question - what do others do to warn themselves that the slide is there. I am thinking a large wooden post attached to the cornor, but that seems to be a little extreme and complicated to store. Need some easy to store fool proof method for keeping my head in one piece.

We took a swimming "noodle" and cut it into sections. Using the slit that is in the noodle, slide it over corners and no more gashed foreheads. The other alternative is a helmet.

Get the brightest colored swim noodle you can find and cut two 2ft pieces, with the slice facing up cut a 45 degree notch about 3/4 of the way through. Then fold it so it makes a 90 degree corner and fit it on the corner of the slide. I will post a pic in a few minutes as soon as I down load them from the camera..Dave and Betsy P.S. Infact if you look at my slide in my Signature you can see the yellow ones I have.

Well the correct name fails me, but its the things kids use at the pool in about 6' lengths. They come in different colors and you a slip the on the slide out and are easy to cut and afix them to the slides and are easy to store very light. Been there and done that. GBY...

The noodles really help and don't hurt as much when knock your noodle, if you need something else use the green or orange surveyors tape and let it hang down about 2 feet, you wont miss that

I use two "noodles" with one cut in half for the corners of the slide and the other for the length of the edge of the slide. Merely padding the corners doesn't help if you walk directly underneath the slide and raise up to fast. Believe me there were times before I put the "noodles" on the slide that I had scabs all over my head. They work. Some think it's chintzy to put them on but my head doesn't bleed any more.

Had some fights with the front slide til we started using the noodles. Noodles with bright colors work best

Or if you are like me and don't use anything because of the stubborn streak that will only let me put white noodles on (which are rare evidently), a few more bloodletting experiences and you will gain newfound respect and remembrance for the slide corners. Hopefully when Spring arrives I can find some white ones. I prefer to keep my blood internal.

I am a very fast learner when my blood is involved. Now that I have been thoroughly educated by the front slide my head goes down automaticaly when I just get close.

I used the pipe wrap because of the price also. but don't do what I did "ONCE" forget to remove them before I had the DW roll them in,
SQUISH-O. I was lucky it was not the bigger ones it might have bent something if any bigger.

I found out, those slides don’t move when they come in contact with hair and scalp. One time my DW thought I was in a fight with a bear. I tried streamers but the noodles work best. Or have your DW set up outside and you do the inside where it's safe.

Suction cup and a wind sock hooked on.It hangs down or movement when the wind blows and you can see the slide out is out and if you bring in the slides all you do is that off the sock. Colorful also.

Use the gray/black pipe foam insulators. As mentioned they are cheap, pre-cut and available everywhere. Then, go to Wally World or a craft store and buy some blaze orange yarn. I bought some stainless license plate nuts and bolts, and tied them on the bottom of 2-3 ft lengths. Put one on the corners and one in the middle of each side of the slide. Just tape on with scotch tape.
Cheryl eventually got tired of my "manly" weights (nuts and bolts) and replaced them with Mickey Mouse shaped small plastic weights. That works OK, too, I guess...

I likewise learned the benefit of putting the noodles on the bedroom slide after hitting my head TWICE during the PDI--the second time, Jo-Anna was inside our Big Sky and could feel the whole rig rock when I head butted the slide.
Note that the slide is not the only magnet for unwary heads--I also got nailed once by the hitch pin when I was backing up after getting something out of the front storage locker. Now I put our two foot step stool right under the hitch pin after we settle into a campsite.
Or you could go the path that Richfaa took and get a hard hat for whenever you are working around the rig.

I would trip over the stool land then hit my head!
Can you still get the noodles this time of year?
Ah! Maybe the 15th when I am in Corpus Christi for the week.
