Want a better towing ride?
I saw this add in Trailer Life and thought I'd post the link to this unique/unusual solution...

Guess it'd free up the bed, but I sure don't need another trailer to pay registration on here in TX. We don't use many toll roads, but that might add up too, from what someone posted the other day.

Well, that cures the problem for the silly guy that bought a 5th wheel but needed a TT! Now let's see how they solve the problem of the guy that bought a TT but meant to buy a 5th wheel.
I assume it's only good for the lighter weight 5ers as shown, as the heavier 5ers would actually exceed the tow capacity of the receiver hitch.

I think they also sell a heavier hitch for the TV but I don't think anyone makes one heavy enough for the larger Montanas. I just thought it an interesting concept.

From what I have read, the weight limit on a tongue tow hitch is 10,000 lbs. My truck manual states that any load over 10,000 must be a 5th wheel. I can't imigine that much weight being pulled off of the rear frame stub on any truck.
Years ago I overloaded the frame mounted hitch of my vehicle by a great deal. I locked the trailer breaks and gave a "test" pull and ripped the whole rear frame off of a 2 week old truck. My wife was SO proud of me.

Seen one of these in Elkhart last year. My first thought had to do with a football and a monkey.

I see Camping World sells them. Next time I'm in a CW I want to take a close look. I don't want to buy one, I just want to look it over.

I saw a Suburban towing a 5th wheel down the highway with one of these, had to do a double take as I had not seen anything like it before.

Isn't that like the one they used in The Long Long Trailer?

Looked at one real close, ties in to tow vehicle in two places, when you turn a corner wheels will need to slide as there is no swivel. Yep monkey business.

I just wonder if you can back it up. Gotta be tricky.

Looks to me like it has all the bad characteristics of both fivers and travel trailerss and none of the advantages of either. Back on the farm we used to be pretty good at backing four wheel wagons around but, I always had a view of the tongue as I was backing. Not sure I would like this contraption at all,

No problem backing up, it is not on any swivel hitch, it is connected solid to the vehicle frame in two places, why I say, wheels look like they need to slide in a tight corner.

That would be a very significant slide in a sharp slow turn, like into a driveway.
