Heat Question

We have a 2008 3400RL. First season with this camper. The heat seems to work ok as far as providing heat. However, it cycles a lot. Runs about every 15 minutes, for about 3 minutes and turns back off. Is this normal? Is there a t-stat setting that can be used to change this issue at all? Will a new digital replacement t-stat help? Thanks in advance for any input here.

If the furnace is working as it should then the cycling is all controlled by the tstat. If yours is original then it's possible that it's wearing out. The spring gets weak. So it's possible that a new tstat could better control the cycling.

If it's cold out then it will tend to cycle a lot anyway since these trailers don't hold heat too long in cold weather.

normal until you have 40 degrees outside. Then it runs about 10-15 minutes and rests for only 5!!! Uses a lot of propane (and battery if boondocking).

many tstats have a cycle rate adjustment; basically it is how many degrees of a temp swing they will allow before calling for heat

If you currently are not noticing a temp change, you could raise the cycle rate (1 degree to 1.5 degrees for example) if you still don't notice a temp change but the cycling reduces you are moving the right direction. At some point you will not like the temp change feeling and you'll stop adjusting the cycle rate.
