Heat Pump runs in Furnace Mode

Made our Trek north safely and upon setup noticed a few issues. The stove igniter no longer works. From what I've researched here on the MOC it appears that we'll be using an external lighter to ignite the stove until I have time to really dig into it. Was hoping that it was as easy as changing the battery on a gas bbq grill, but it isn't.
Second, the furnace would not turn on. I removed the external cover and hit the reset button and the furnace now works. The problem is that the Heat Pump comes on at the same time and runs along with the Furnace. And, neither will shut off at the set point, they have to be turned off manually.
Would appreciate any and all advice on where to look first to address the Furnace/Heat Pump issue.
Thanks in advance!

On your thermostat check your Fan settings. There is High, Low, and Auto. If the Fan is on High or Low it will run with the furnace. Set it to Auto and that should resolve that issue.

For the stove igniter, it's possible that one of the wires from the igniter has come loose.

If you have to turn the igniter knob to start the burners, that is a piezo electric device that generates the spark and no battery is used. Our BBQ grill uses an igniter that has a AA battery and you just push the button to start the flame.

If you have the push button ignitor there is a battery behind the rubber boot when depressed it makes a connection for the ignitor to work. My ignitor was still very sluggish even with a fresh battery. I went to a RV parts dealership with the old ignitor and replaced it same kind and it now works as it should. Pretty easy to r and r the ignitor. Keep track of the wire removal so you don't mix up the burner selections.
