Speaking about mixing. CHECK shower handle shut off valve in shower and if you have an outside shower. If shower head has water flow shutoff others claim the water will mix effecting water temp elsewhere.
So shower head open for water to run when cold/hot valves are open. Do not have shower head valve in closed position permitting cold/hot water valve to be open.
May be something else but check this to be sure.
