had to to it
Some people of age might find this interesting I usually leave my 120lb 7200 watt 240 volt generator in my truck full-time cause I`m to old to pick it up from the bed but recently I have had a need to use my bed for what it was designed for. No place to put an engine crane when done. The electric hoist I've been using hanging from the ceiling became a pain to use and the whole idea of using ramps is dangerous and still a back breaker to get a gen in or out of a truck bed, then what do you do with the ramps? They`re big and long to get the angle low so you can push the gen up. All too problematic. It can be used for taking out and installing your 250lb boat anchor hitch too, wish I had come across this when I used one. It does not interfere with the pin box when doing a 90 degres turn (I checked) I`ll never go back to those other ways of doing things it`s just to easy and safe and tucks away when not in use.
Not my truck or me in the video (Wife says I`m way prettier) but you get the picture.

Nice mod I will be purchasing one of those. Currently I use an engine hoist to get my 5th wheel hitch in n out of the truck. This is going to be much easier for sure.

I use a hitch mounted deer hoist. It mounts easy and I can quickly take it apart and bring it along if I am going to take the generator out at the campsite.

Same as prndl. Easy set up and take-down. Sure saves the back.

Did the holes line up for you to stow it parallel to the truck bed? Do the Ford factory bed tie downs interfere with it stowing? I use the tractor at home, but this seems like a good mobile solution.

I installed the crane about an inch off the side of the truck bed. It was easier to get the bolts thru the bed to the cross supports underneath drilled out. This still allowed a 4`x8` sheet of plywood to lay flat in the bed. I used a 8" x20" by 3/16 " plate on top only as I`m not picking up anything over 200 lbs. I couldn`t not see adding all that metal the other guys did for my proposes. I didn`t use the bolts that came with the unit, to big, I used smaller Grade 8 bolts that worked out easier to drill out for. Tie downs are not a problem.

I wonder why the youtube guys storage holes did not line up? He was bout 30 degrees off the side of the bed when the holes lined up. Probably nothing a drill bit couldn't fix.

That's one way to get your fifth wheel hitch out!

I like the deer hoist you don't have to drill holes in the bed of the truck.

I have the deer hoist too. t works on the rear receiver of the Montana to lift heavy items as well as the receiver on the truck.

For those using the deer hoist, a couple of questions.
1. Will the tailgate fully open with the lift attached to the hitch ? Looks like it won’t.
If the tailgate doesn’t open, that’s a lot of height to clear.
2. Looks like the deer hoist doesn’t rotate. Do you just hook to your genny or fifth wheel hitch and drag it to the tailgate before lifting over the
tailgate ?
Since the hook on the deer hoist faces away from the back of the truck, do you need a second person to guide everything up and over the tailgate ?
Looks interesting but not sure how it works for something in the truck bed.

The one I have allows the tailgate to fully open and the whole upright portion rotates on its pin at the bottom.

Don’t know about tractor supply but harbor freight does sell them. I just purchased one yesterday and am going to start install as soon as I can get some 1/4 steel plate to use for reinforcing the bed of the truck.

I was actually referring to the deer hoist. I don’t want to drill holes in the truck bed.

I just looked on their website, but didn’t see a deer hoist. Did you happen to come across a part number ?

A Search at HF using those terms gets 3 pages without the any hitch type hoist.
