Mark, yesterday I pulled the cover off the rooftop unit. The fins are straight and clean. No debris that I could see at all. I was surprised the entire unit was not filthy after three years. There was a light coat of dust. What I think is probably the squirrel cage cover had a film of dirt on it that mostly wiped off with a rag. But otherwise it looked good in there.

Thanks for the tip, though. As I think about it I think last year we kept the thermostat on 77 and maybe didn't notice a couple of degrees rise. This year it's on 75 and we notice four to six degrees rise. I don't yet have a thermometer to check actual air temperature at the vents but that's on my list to do.
