Not camping, but at 12:30 am this morning, the power decides that it does not want to supply half of our town. We woke up at 1:00 am realizing it, so off to the garage equipped with flashlight to retrieve the Kerosene heater, can of Kerosene, and the ever trustworthy Honda 2000 generator. Two hours later all is in place with exterior grade heavy-duty extension cords running into the house to run our space heater in the bedroom. Wake up about five this morning and get to work on enhancing the configuration. Man and woman-handle the Kipor 3000 watt generator up the basement steps from the garage, (it takes both of us) and get it running as well after the obligatory trip to the gas station on the side of town that has power. Kerosene can is in the truck in the event I have to get it on the way home if the power is not restored. Projected temps of -6 degrees tonight with wind chills -30. We feel totally blessed to have the ability to adapt our camping skills and experiences to the S&B. Fridge is powered, have space heater, DW had her coffee this morning (the most important thing!!), and instructions were left on how to power up the big screen and the Directv receiver. Still no power at the house, Dad is at work and the womenfolk are comfortable for now!! Life is still GOOD!!! Count your Blessings, there are many who do not have such capabilities!!
