IndyRunner, we have been going to St. Andrews State Park for almost 45 years (since 1962), first as tent campers and now, for the last few years, as fifth-wheel residents. It is still one of our favorite spots. Last year we stopped by Top Sail just for a night before our week long reservation at St. Andrews. Both were top notch experiences.

One other favorite over these years has been Ft. Pickens across from Pensacola. For many years it was "Ft. Pickens State Park", but more recently it has been made a part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore but still called "Ft. Pickens Camping Area". It was demolished by hurricane Ivan a couple of years ago and, to my knowledge, has never re-opened for camping. We feel a real personal loss about this and hope for it to re-open (maybe this Spring?) One of the first Montanas we ever saw was in the Ft. Pickens camp loop "A". We got the fever!

I'm inclined to call this stretch of snow white sand and emerald green water from Gulf Shores to Panama City "The Texas Rivera" because Pensacola is closer to Houston than it is to Miami. Floridians, please take kindly to this. It is intended as a high compliment.
