If you are symptom free,then there is probably no acid in the esophagus and the healing will take place. Those new mucosal cells will grow in place of the old ones; the digestive track is constantly replacing its lining. As long as you aren't having any symptoms of the acid, you are ok. If is starts burning again, then I'd think about restarting the meds.
