There is no way to recoup the cost of a bigger tank unless you can put a price on peace of mind.

I had a 52Gal replacement tank put in a 2008 I had. I had a shop with a tuner do some changing to the programming to make the gauge work correctly and then it was still always a little funky in the fuel range. In this truck I had a 50gal in bed tank (Transfer Flow) put in, they undercoated the whole tank for more durability. It"s only about 18" deep and fits under the bed cover. Have had no problem with condensation, and it's easy to change the filter annually in the top of the tank and no gauge or range problems.
