We have done this trip and I can tell you they are a blast. I use Good Sam (member) and find camp grounds. My wife plans the sight seeing. She uses Trip Adviser to see what is happening in the area. We plan cities like you have. Then we see what is there and plan how long to stay in one place to get the most from our trip. We go on 3 month trips every year except last year.
