It won’t tip over. There’s a piece that slides into the receiver and, the main bar that holds the hydraulic hoist slides into that. There’s also two stabilizer legs coming down on each side. Also your idea to leave attached to the pin box is a good idea but, my camper is stored at a lot and, I don’t feel comfortable leaving it attached like that.
