We would love to have one and have been tempted many times. However the fact is we would still have to carry around the portable setup as to many times trees and other obstruction get in the way. The roof mounted units are great if you always have a unobstructed vied of the southern sky. No guarantee there. We are considering the portable dish unit that can be attached to the rear ladder or moved around to clear obstructions..
As long as all the factors have been thought about and considered....go for it..
