Russ,
I just used a grinder and cut off the boom, left the strap with the pivot hole to use when I attach a regular 3" drain line to the "safety valve" I added to the 3" ABS discharge pipe. Now I just figure out which length of hose I need (have several, from 5' to 15') and lay the hose on a slinky if needed.
The boom was a pain, and although it did have a bendable end where it connected to the 3" ABS line, I didn't like the limitations of the boom, nor did I know how old the hose was. Just call me 'old school'.
