I know that there were a number of bad vents, just cause I only had one, does not mean that someone cannot have 2 or more.
You mentioned the covers, are these the kind you "stuff" up in the vent to keep out daylight?? I cannot imagine that the cover kept the humidity level high, thus causing rust. The material IS supposed to be rust proof.
Geesh, it sounds like you just got two of the bad ones. What a bummer that is!
Glass Guy's suggestion that they can be sanded and painted is a good one, if I remember, someone else on the forum did just that and had no further trouble. (I hope I remember that correctly.)
