I purchased the Calgon bath product for spas at Wal-Mart, I was concerned the other Calgon bath products would produce bubbles. The Calgon for spas said low sudsing and I figured if it was OK for spas it would be be Ok for our holding tanks. I have also had problems finding the Calgon for laundry. I have only found it at Albertsons in CA and yes we have very hard water in southern CA.

I wouldn't be without a water softener at home so this portable water softener looks really interesting. Where do you put it when it is hooked up to your Montana? We have been able to fit our water filter in our convenience center using quick release and 90 degree elbows. Would the water softener fit there and do you filter your water for drinking? It seems a bit pricey but sounds like you think it is worth it.
