And they drive among us. Sorry this is very worry some to me and this is why I will not follow any one towing anything or driving a motor-home to closely. Believe me when I say I don`t feel I am the best driver on the highway but an observant person I am ( saved my butt more than once in Vietnam)and have learned a lot through life from this and reading a great deal.

From another forum board as follows

Overpass marking

Ok first I’m sorry for not knowing and wasn’t for lack of googling ok, and checking with DOT website so here is my question, while traveling on Pensilvanya turnpike I notice that some overpasses have a yellow signage that read example 12’ 1” other will have 12’ 6” other yet have 13’ ok not only freak me out because of course was too late if anything would had happened no signs before hand indicating anything, how about at night? Ok so what is that signs all about? On all the overpasses after the first one I drove on the left side I’m sure I did not make too many friends.*

"I think that only applies to commercials vehicles, right Honey"
I know this is an older thread but just in case your still unsure about bridge or overpass height. When there is an amber or yellow warning sign on a bridge, it means that the most narrow point of that overpass is below the nominal height requirement. Here in the states that means all of the overpass has to be higher than 13'6". Any vehicle higher than 13'6" requires special permits, escort vehicles, route planning etc. That doesn't mean that trucks can't fit under a 12' high bridge somewhere. It just means that the lowest point is 12'. So unless you're really good at figuring out where that is, caution is advised. I have also seen a bridge here in NE Ohio that had that same warning sign for a 13'6'' bridge on a state route. This I believe is because the road dips below grade to allow passage. So if your traveling too fast, you could possibly bounce the top of the trailer off the bottom of the overpass. Hope this helps..
