David, I do not think you will need a slider hitch. I used Reese in the past and this time I went with a B&W hitch. They make a 16K version of the companion you might want to look at.

I would recommend the Mor/ryde rubber pin. Make sure it has a #4 rubber block in it. It will probably come with a #5 and will be too stiff for your trailer weight.
