Satellite companies use two types of beams to broadcast different channels. Conus(Continental US)beams, that cover the entire US for nation wide stations, and spot beams, that cover specific areas of the US for local stations.
By law, satellite companies are only allowed to supply local stations to customers located in that local area. Therefore, if you move to a new location they are required to change your locals to the new area or eliminate them all together. Normally, they are eliminated because you are out of the range of the spot beam. If you call them they should change them for you but dealing with the their customer service can be a problem.
There are a few situations that qualify you for national network feeds and full time RV'ing is one. You can get national feeds from All American Direct for a monthly fee with proof of RV ownership.
There is one other way around this problem. There are a few locals packages that are broadcast on conus beams. If you call them and give them an address and zip code in one of these areas you will be able to receive those locals anywhere in the US. New York and Northern NJ have conus locals.
