Take your unit back to CW and tell them they are full of "Bull" when they said that is normal for the cables/rods to be hard to close and open. Then you can tell them they can fix the grey tank now that they are so sure the cables/rods work hard. Use some silicone spray on the cables/rods and possibly some on the valves themselves if you can get to them.
If it just grey water you should have no problem with it coming out on the ground but now if it was the black tank that would be another story! Let us know what you come up with!
