I can tell you, if your water is above 110⁰F, the gas mode will not turn on. That's in the manual in the files section.
If it doesn't work when the hot water is cold,
Check for clicking of the ignitor,
Spiders, mud dobbers nest in the orifice tube etc.
There is a good troubleshooting chart in the manual.
