Like Tom S pointed out the low range is very useful. When going up a long very steep grade and going slow you can switch to low range to cool your transmission down.
Rondo they make the JDs green and GOLD for a reason. We have 3 of them a compact a 75 horse and a 1958 model 520 pooping John fully restored.
