6 decibels doubles sound pressure. So the Onan isn’t a little bit louder it’s over twice as loud.

I have my Honda 3000 in the bed of my truck with a cord to the front of my camper with a receptacle in the front of the camper. I can cool the camper while driving.

I carry our Honda on the back of the 5er. I made up a short 5' cord with twist locks on each end. It stays plugged in as we travel ready for use at any stop or to run A/C or furnace the last few miles before camp set up.

Certainly more than one way to skin a cat but I prefer a portable Genny as we use it often for other duties. I can see where the onboard has its advantages though if you only need it for the camper.
