It sounds as if your rig is a 30a rig. If this is the case 30a cord is adaquet. There will be voltage drop, minor and only when you are close to actually using 30a in the rig. A 50a cord will lessen the voltage dorp. On the other side, if your rig is a 50a rig you are really putting your equipment in jeopardy using a 30a cord. A 50a cord has two legs capable of 50a each, a 30a cord has one leg capable of 30a. A 50a cord has more than three times the capacity of that of a 30a cord.
